Casa Batlló vs La Pedrera

They stand about 500 metres apart on the same boulevard and were built within a few years of each other, yet they feel nothing alike inside. Here is how to choose, and which tours take you through which door.

Casa Batlló (Passeig de Gràcia 43) is a remodel Gaudí carried out in 1904 to 1906. La Pedrera, or Casa Milà (Passeig de Gràcia 92), followed from 1906 to 1912 and was built from scratch. Both are UNESCO World Heritage sites and both sell timed tickets.

Most visitors with one day pick one of them, and most full-day tours make that choice for you. This guide helps you make it yourself.

The quick answer

Choose Casa Batlló for colour, light and a theatrical, interactive visit (free for kids up to 12). Choose La Pedrera for the rooftop of chimney warriors, the period apartment and the arched attic, usually at a lower price. The Complete Gaudí Tour goes inside Casa Batlló only; the Three Gaudí Houses tour goes inside both.

What is the main difference between Casa Batlló and La Pedrera?

Casa Batlló is smaller, more colourful and more theatrical; La Pedrera is bigger and more architectural, with the famous rooftop.

Casa Batlló is all about colour and symbolism: a façade read as a dragon's back, a blue-tiled light well and a noble floor with curving windows. La Pedrera is about structure: a stone façade that locals once mocked as "the stone quarry", two courtyards, a furnished period apartment, an attic of brick arches and a rooftop of sculpted chimneys.

Which is better for kids?

Casa Batlló, for most families: it is free up to age 12 and the AR tablet visit keeps children busy.

La Pedrera is free up to 11 and its rooftop, where the chimneys look like helmeted warriors, is a hit with older children. Both houses have lifts; Casa Batlló gives lift priority to visitors with reduced mobility and pregnant women.

Which Casa Batlló ticket should you buy?

Silver, if the rooftop matters: several ticket guides report that the Blue ticket has not included it since 2025.

Casa Batlló sells Blue, Silver, Gold and Platinum tickets at prices that change by date, from about €29 to €35 for Blue up to about €55 for Platinum. Gold adds more private rooms and immersive spaces. Sources disagree on which tier includes the Gaudí Cube, so check the tier description when you book. The official ticket is also on Viator from $52 with the audio guide.

What do you see inside La Pedrera?

The courtyards, a furnished apartment, the attic exhibition on Gaudí and the rooftop with its chimney warriors and city views.

The day ticket (Essential) includes a video guide; the Sunset ticket covers the same areas in the early evening for less. The La Pedrera ticket on Viator starts at $39 with the audio guide.

Can you visit either house at night?

Yes. La Pedrera runs a guided Night Experience with a rooftop light show and cava, and Casa Batlló runs seasonal night visits.

La Pedrera's night visit is listed from €39.50 on its own site and from $46 on Viator. Casa Batlló's 2026 summer "Magical Nights" with a rooftop concert ran from 1 June to 1 October; in winter it has run a separate night visit, so check the official site for dates.

Can you do both on the same day?

Easily: they are about 500 metres apart, a 5 to 10 minute walk up Passeig de Gràcia.

Allow about 2 h 15 min for both visits plus the walk. Book two timed slots about 90 minutes apart, or book the three houses tour, which adds Casa Vicens in Gràcia. For a whole day with Park Güell and the Sagrada Família too, see Gaudí in one day.

So which one should you pick?

First visit and love colour: Casa Batlló. Architecture fan or rooftop views: La Pedrera. Time for both: see both.

If you are booking a full-day tour, let the house decide it: the Complete Gaudí Tour for Casa Batlló, Gaudí in One Day for La Pedrera.
