Park Güell was built from 1900 to 1914 as a garden-city housing estate for Eusebi Güell. Only two houses were built, and it opened as a public park in 1926. Today the mosaic heart of it, the Monumental Zone, needs a timed ticket.
Prices and rules below come from the park's official site, checked in October 2026.
The quick answer
The Monumental Zone costs €18 per adult, €13.50 for ages 7 to 12 and over-65s, and is free for under-7s (who still need a ticket). You must enter within 30 minutes of your slot, with no re-entry. Take metro L3 to Lesseps or Vallcarca and walk about 20 minutes uphill, or book a guided visit that includes the ticket.

Is Park Güell free?
Only the outer woodland. The Monumental Zone, with the dragon stairway, the Hypostyle Room and the serpentine bench, needs a paid ticket.
The paid Monumental Zone covers about 12 hectares and is the UNESCO-listed part. About 8 more hectares of woodland and nature areas are free and open. Barcelona residents get in free; visitors do not.

How much are Park Güell tickets in 2026?
€18 for adults, €13.50 for ages 7 to 12 and over-65s, free for ages 0 to 6.
Children under 7 still need a free ticket. Visitors with disabilities go free and their companion pays €13.50. The park's own guided tours cost extra on top of the ticket.

Check dates for the Park Güell guided tourHow do the time slots work?
You pick a time slot and must enter within 30 minutes of it; once inside you can stay as long as you like, but you cannot re-enter.
Tourist slots are sold from 9:30 to 19:30, with the last slots earlier in winter. Early mornings and evenings outside those hours are reserved for residents. Same-day tickets often sell out, so book ahead, one to two weeks ahead in June to August.

How do you get to Park Güell?
Metro L3 to Lesseps or Vallcarca, then about 20 minutes uphill on foot; escalators help on the Vallcarca side.
From Vallcarca there are escalators on Baixada de la Glòria, and more on Avinguda del Santuari de Sant Josep de la Muntanya. Buses 24 and V19 stop close by, but both are often packed with visitors. Buses H6 and D40 to Travessera de Dalt leave a walk of about 10 minutes. From the centre, a taxi takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

Skip the hill logistics after the park: a private transfer takes you on to the Sagrada Família.
Explore Park Güell and Sagrada FamíliaWhen is the best time to visit?
The first slots of the morning for the fewest people, or late afternoon for the best light; avoid 12:00 to 16:00 and weekends.
Check the official site before you go: drainage and irrigation works were under way in 2026, and access can be affected by weather.

Is the Gaudí House Museum included?
Not in the standard ticket. It is sold as a combo with Park Güell when it is open, so check availability before you plan around it.
Gaudí lived in the house from 1906 to 1925. In 2026 the Sagrada Família's site listed it as temporarily closed, while the park's ticket page still showed a combo ticket. None of the tours on this site include it.
Should you book a guided Park Güell tour?
Yes if you want the story behind the mosaics; the ticket is included, so it also solves the timed-slot problem.
The Park Güell guided tour lasts 55 minutes from $36 and meets at Carretera del Carmel 23. The Park Güell and Sagrada Família tour adds the basilica with a private transfer, and the Complete Gaudí Tour includes about an hour in the park in its complete option. See Gaudí in one day for where the park fits in a full day.

Park Güell then the Sagrada Família, with a private transfer between them.
